Yep I had to stop being a stubborn arse and go see the doctor today. Good news is that it didn’t seem like any ligaments or tendons were completely torn but the doc wants to x-ray my ankle to make sure there are no fractures. We’ll have to wait and see at least Teal can stop beating me with the iron skillet, but I’m sure I’ll give her another reason to.

Other news is the in-laws came down for the holiday weekend. It’s always great to see them especially my mother-in-law who battle cancer and seems to be doing very well. And don’t worry papa, I know what I’m doing with the wood floors. I don’t need to pull the base boards, I’m going to put quarter-round down to close the gap between the wood and the base boards.

Kids are almost out of school, I’ve seen a major improvement in both of them. If you told me 4 years ago that public school is better than private school I would have laughed in your face, however after what we’ve been through, we’ve discovered that public schools here in Florida are actually better than most private schools. In private schools they worked mostly on memorizing bible verses and writing, and they seriously lacked in math and reading. This was the same with most that I started inquiring about and I’ve heard this same complaint from a number of parents. I’m glad we made the decision to move them however the decision was based on the driving distance than anything else.

The pitaBoy who struggled in reading comprehension for a couple of years was in danger of not graduating to the 4th grade however he passed his FCAT and has shown major improvements. We are so proud of him and he’ll be moving on up.

The pitaGirl however continues to struggle in math which for some reason women tend to struggle in. I really wish I could find a way to help her but I have no patience to tutor her so I’m going to look into Sylvan to see if they can help her over the summer and give her a head start for next year. She continues to make improvements but she needs a bit of a push to get her really going.

That’s all the news in our boring life for now…

I was all ready for the weekend as I wanted to make more progress on laying down the wood floors. The week went by pretty good, work is still awesome love it there, then came Friday. I went with another co worker to our datacenter to rack a new blade chassis, well wouldn’t you know it as we were unloading the heavy SOB off the pallet and onto the neat server lift, my right ankle decided to roll out from underneath me. OUCH as the pain rushed up I still manage to stay upright and finish up. By the time I got home well lets say not only was the pain back but the swelling started.

Needless to say this put a damper on my weekend plans. I laid out more of the underlayment but having to crouch down put lots of pressure on my ankle so I’m going to have to move a bit slower than I wanted to. I think Teal is about ready to trade me in for a new model. Anyone looking for a 33 yr/old half broken guy who doesn’t know how to keep his mouth shut? Only cost you a $1!!!

Other news besides me trying to glue myself to the floor is that both Teal and the little pitaGIRL also started taking karate lessons. I think this will be good for the pitaGIRL especially as she needs a little more discipline (shhhh…she acts like her MOTHER!!!!) but this gives her something else to do as dance class didn’t have a time that suited our busy schedule. I think Teal wanted to take classes so she can try and kick my arse especially when I come to torture her, sorry babes it will never happen.

I got a kick out of this video…

My little sister is 27 now, WOW she’s getting OLD!!!

Important lesson that I learned today.  Don’t rush when playing with Bostick Best adhesive.  I wanted to make some progress today on the wood floors but since the kids had a 4 hour Jiu Jitsu class, my day was pretty much shot but I decided to squeeze in some flooring before I had to mow the yard.

Anyways things started off well when wouldn’t you know it I put my knee in the glue and didn’t notice it.  Luckily I managed to get my jeans off the glue in time before I got stuck.  But during that process or sometime later (maybe earlier) I must have stepped in some of it.  I noticed after I finished mowing the front yard that two of my toes were stuck together.  When I pulled them apart, yep, they were glued together.

Tomorrow is another busy day, I have to take the rugrats to go see the new Narnia move; the PITAboy has been bugging me every hour since Thursday about going to see it so I figure I’ll get that out of the way.  We’ll then have to clean the house before Teal gets home (hehe…if she’s smart she won’t come home till Monday night, and yet again she escaped and is willing to come back home, someone needs to get her head checked out.)

So today’s lesson that I learned, don’t rush it, take your time and watch where you step or place your knee!  Hopefully tomorrow will go better for me.
