So why devote an entire page to why Florida drivers suck. Well living down here for 5+ years I’ve seen way too many people do stupid things on the roads.  What’s worse is that it’s not the old people or the really young people but it’s people between 25-45 that are the most dangerous ones.

Case in point I was driving one day to the bank while in the right lane. As I was heading to the bank this woman in a SUV who was 3 cars in front of me in the right lane suddenly cut left to make the left turn at the light. It was a miracle that no one was hit when she did that but there sure was a lot of screeching tires as people were hitting their brakes.

Another incident involved another woman (I’m not picking on woman now come on!), I was behind this gold Lexus when we came to a stop at a red light in the left turn lane (S.R 436 turn left onto S.R. 434). Well I guess she didn’t want to wait for the light because she suddenly gunned it turning right (onto S.R. 434) almost causing a very nice accident. Well the gal in the car next to me and I shook our heads thinking what an ID10T she was.  I didn’t think much of anymore until my light changed green so I started to turn (left onto S.R. 434) when all of a sudden this gold Lexus comes blasting through the intersection (running the red light). I pulled up behind the Lexus and wouldn’t you know it, it was the same gal. I can only guess that she did a u-turn and she definitely ran the red light just to end up in the same exact location where she could have been had she waited.

My other gripe is how well Florida drivers change lanes. They don’t bother to look to see if anyone is next to them or not they just change lanes. I’ve had to hit my brakes many of times to avoid being hit by some ID10T!!!

Do Floridians know what a turn lane is. Where I live in Central FL there are few turn lanes.  But when there is one, people don’t know how to use them as they stay on the main road and turn from there.  But my favorite is when they are in both the turn lane and the main road and they stop because they don’t know where they want to go, thus causing everyone else to hit the brakes.

My other favorite is when I go to pick up my kids there are 4 lanes heading east (S.R. 414), far left lane allows you to turn on to the Interstate 4 going east to Daytona, while the far right lane allows you to turn on to the Interstate 4 going west to Tampa. So we have two lanes going east bound. Well wouldn’t you know it some impatient arse can’t wait in line they have to try and cut over and guess what they block all traffic so no one can go anywhere. If you ever wonder why we have so much road rage there you go.

Another cause of road rage is the when your on 2 lane road and two cars are doing 35mph in a 45mph zone. Well courteous people would have the person in the left lane move over so traffic could flow but here they don’t.  And what makes things worse is that person wants to make a right turn so instead of speeding up to get ahead of everyone else in the right lane they decide to slow down, well no one in the right lane wants to get stuck behind this person so no one lets them in. So what do you get a very nice backup in traffic.

Do people here know how to turn when the light turns green?  I can understand if the first person hesitates to go because of all the red light runners but the people behind the first car seem to want to leave gaps between them, and I’m talking about you could fit a bus between them sometimes 2, so instead of 20 cars being able to turn at a light, only 8 people can.  I swear I feel like I have to give driving lessons to some of these people.

BUT the WORST are the Mercedes Benz drivers (some of them). These people put down a lot of money for a Benz and they are the worst drivers, pulling out in front of you, cutting you off, stopping at GREEN lights which I can’t figure out why they do that. They are completely oblivious to what’s going on around them which makes them the most dangerous drivers on the roads.  I had this one guy nearly take me out as he tried to merge into my lane.  Luckily I got on my horn and he stopped but as I pulled up to him he was all “WTF…”  I had to repeat several times to check your blind spot.  So if you ever come to Florida beware of the Mercedes Benz drivers, they think because they overpaid for their POS car that they own the roads.  Just goes to show you that you don’t need brains when it comes to purchasing cars.

Update: There was this ID10T driver on 436 who always just merges into your lane regardless if your there or not.  Twice he nearly hit me but guess what this dumb arse did, he merged into the lane nearly hitting a cop!  Guess what the cop pulled his arse over.  I so wanted to stop and tell the cop this guy shouldn’t have a license at all (among other things I guess I shouldn’t mention), well I take it he got a ticket cause he hasn’t done that the last 3 times I’ve seen him.
