Who the heck are you?

Well I am a 30ish year old living in Florida (no fark jokes about Florida now) for about 5 years now. I use to live in Northern VA, which I miss very much but couldn’t stand the weather anymore. I have 2 children, 3 dogs and 2 cats along with 1 wife, so yes my house is a zoo, meaning the wife is the zookeeper/caretaker/ms. who does everything because I’m on my computer building this site. I’ll pay for this later guarantee it.

By day I’m a sysadmin where I work for a CIO that has more knowledge in his little finger than I have in my entire body. The guys that I work with are a great group of guys, they are extremely resourceful and it’s been a pleasure working with them. By day I’m now a Systems Engineer who works with a bunch of guys where each of them have more knowledge in their little fingers than I do in my entire body.  It is a pleasure to work with talented people which gives me the opportunity to learn.  By night night I’m a daddy to 2 wonderful children and husband to an awesome wife (who hasn’t killed me yet and I do me yet!) I’m also completely addicted to Sudoku which is challenging and definitely keeps my mind active. I’m also into video games such as Call of Duty, God of War, Halo, Starcraft but not into WoW. My online screen name is “cnonfodr” and I’m exactly that nothing but cannon fodder which all you have to do is shoot in my direction and I’m dead.

My wife is an Oncologist nurse by day doing clinical research for Florida Hospital. I couldn’t begin to tell you exactly what she does other than what she does may help cure cancer one day. By night she’s a wonderful mother and wife. She also does creative memories which I say is a scrapbooking cult but apparently there are plenty of women who strongly disagree with me. I’ll probably put a page up here for her. I’m getting to lazy to put up a page for her cult.

I don’t mind people e-mailing me at eric at the stockers dot org as long as they are comments/advice or you wish to add something to the tips/tricks, rants about FL drivers. But don’t send anything hateful, those will be ignored or posted. Please don’t expect me to write back quickly, I’m a major procrastinator and sometimes I’ll respond quickly and other times I won’t. I even bought a book The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Overcoming Procrastination which I read 1 chapter! Who duh thunk that I actually read 1 chapter let alone actually read anything!

What kind of dogs/cats do you have?

Well our two older dogs are mutts, when we first moved to Florida, they were running around our neighborhood starving, so we took them in and gave them a home. The older dog we named Isabelle or Belle, the other dog we named her Hope. We (meaning I did since I’m a sucker for my kids) decided to buy a puppy for the kids so we bought a Cairn Terrier from Jim and Carol Kienlen. The kids named him Gizmo and he is a raging ball of fur as nothing is safe from him especially the cats!

Our older cat Lucky is just that lucky to be alive. One of my wifes coworkers found him when he was a kitten trying to cross the Springfield overpass. For those who have driven it you know how busy it is. He’s lucky he made it across without being hit. Of course he was the first rescued animal we took in. Oreo our other cat was adopted from another of my wifes coworkers. This cat is very loving cat except when you go to brush him.  Update: stupid cat bit me, tried to eat the thing but managed to escape.  Instead the woman brought home another cat.

What is the purpose of this site?

It has 2 purposes, first is to voice my quirky opinions which some may agree but most may not but this is a personal site so you can read it or not won’t hurt my feelings, but remember what opinions are, they are like arseholes everyone has one and they all stink!

Second, my journey with linux has met its share of frustrations, ubuntu has a very good ubuntu guide online but for some reason some of parts in the guide don’t work for me and I had to research it to get it working. I could update the ubuntuguide but what works for me probably won’t work for anyone else.  In reality this site is mainly for family to keep up with what’s going on down here.

What are your children’s names?

My son is PITAboy and my daughter is PITAgirl. PITA = Pain In The Arse.  And yes they are.

Is your wife a computer widow?

She will say yes, I say no, but if she’s a computer widow then I’m a Creative Memories widow.
