OK the insulayment came in, of course my adding skills were seriously lacking as 175 + 150 does not equal 200.  I sort of forgot to add the two together as I was thinking of just the dining room but luckily they had the insulayment in stock so I picked up another 200sq/ft so now I have plenty.  All the paint is up, which I had a bit of problem.  Some of the paint was just on there good and 40 grit sandpaper (was advised 12 grit but neither Home Depot or Lowes carried it, they would have to special order it) wouldn’t get it up.  I did use a razor blade and scrape most of it up but some was really on there.   Then I remember a trick my dad used, good old heat gun.  I didn’t want to use chemicals as most can cause cancer, so I used a heat gun and was able to scrape up the rest leaving some that the razor blade couldn’t get up.  So I used Goof-off and a wire brush.  Beats a chemical that causes cancer, so thanks dad for teaching me that trick with the heat gun!

Now it’s time to go except for one small minor detail (always one more thing with me).  Some parts of the floor is not level.  Now mixing a patch and leveling the floor is what every site recommended doing, however thanks to some local contractors here I learned a neat little trick to leveling the floor quick and dirty so to speak.

Ready!!!

Roofing shingles.  They explained that it takes too long on a lot of jobs to mix, level, oh crap found another spot, mix, level, repeat.  So they use roofing shingles to level out the spots, plus it won’t deteriorate.  Even though the amount is supposedly negligible and I could just lay the wood down, I don’t like the idea of the wood having to bend even a little bit as it may cause the glue to come up and next thing I know pop, pop.  So tonight I’m going to sweep one more time, find the spots,  level them out.  Hopefully tomorrow night I can lay the insulayment down, then by Sunday I’ll FINALLY have the first two rooms done.

Yes I’m a procrastinator…
