My New Toy

Yes the new lens for my camera came in! I had fun taking some test shots with it, plus on top of that I figured out how to take action shots. I did notice since I have tremors in my right hand that I can’t hold it steady when taking long distance shots so I’m going to have to get a tripod, sucks but will help out.

After researching different lenses for the camera I went with the Sigma APO 70-300 mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Telephoto. Dell was running a pretty good special on it, so it was almost half the price of others who were selling the same thing. I have to say Dell runs a lot of specials other than computers. From the research I did, Sigma has a very good reputation and I have to say so far I’m impress with it. The lens is also lighter than I thought which is great.  I was worried that it would effect the long distance shots but I had no problems with it. I was also surprised by how good the pictures came out from a long distance shot, you could still see the detail in the shots. I took many photos of my feet and the ceiling fan, which I doubt anyone really wants to see so when i get off my arse, I’ll go and take some other pictures.

Now I still have a lot to learn, if someone asked me what the F4/-5.6 or the APO 70-300mm means, I would look at you stupid and say “yes and no”. The lens came with a hood, which I think is to keep light out from close up macro shots but I haven’t the foggiest idea. But I’m learning and I’m sure Teal would rather have me do this than play some game where I’m cursing at it every 5 seconds.
